Scholarship opportunity

The Cobleskill-Richmondville Central School District recognizes there are many scholarship opportunities available to students and parents, but they may be challenging to locate. To assist families in this process, the Guidance Office maintains a list of just some of the scholarships available to our seniors. This page is updated throughout the year as new opportunities announced.

Please note the DEADLINES at the bottom of each scholarship.

Hagan Scholarship Foundation

The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide four-year need based merit scholarship providing each recipient with the opportunity to graduate college debt-free, providing up to $6,000 each semester. View the HSF website at: www.hsfmo.org

Elks National Foundation Scholarship Programs

The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2023 competition. Click here to apply today.

Fleet Reserve Association Essay Contest

Fleet Reserve Association sponsors an annual essay contest to promote the spirit of Americanism and patriotism among our country's youth. FRA's Americanism Essay Contest is open to all students, grades 7 through 12, including those who are home schooled. Students are invited to submit a 350-word essay through an FRA member or local FRA branch before the December 1st deadline. Local winners are forwarded for competition at the regional level and regional winners compete for national prizes.

C-RTA Scholarship

- The C-RTA Scholarship Committee is proud to announce the annual scholarship of $1,000 for three seniors who have been accepted at a 2-4 year college.  One of the three scholarships will give preference to a student entering the field of education.  
- The candidates will be evaluated in 4 categories: academics, citizenship, extracurricular activities, essay.
- Scholarship winners will receive $500 each year for 2 years upon verification of academic success at the end of the fall semester and paid directly to the student.

William M. Jackman Scholarship

- $600 scholarship 
- An applicant must be a high school senior who will major in the field(s) of art, humanities, communications or theatre. 
- Interested students can fill out an application form. Down the form by CLICKING HERE
- The Cobleskill-Richmondville Teachers' Association (CRTA) will appoint a scholarship committee to determine the recipient of the scholarship. 
- Scholarship money will be received upon CRTA's receipt of a satisfactory official transcript of the first semester of study.

Caring.com Scholarship

- 2 scholarships available: $1,000 - $1,500 for students pursuing careers in senior care. Requires application and essay.

The Excelsior Scholarship, Making College Possible

Governor Cuomo and the State Legislature recently enacted the Excelsior Scholarship program, which is administered by the Higher Education Services Corporation. Below is information provided by the Governor's office about the program:

This year, Governor Cuomo and the New York State Legislature enacted the nation's first tuition-free degree program, the Excelsior Scholarship.The Scholarship is making college possible for hundreds of thousands of students across the state and helping to alleviate the crushing burden of student debt. A college education is increasingly necessary to secure the jobs of tomorrow, and the Excelsior Scholarship ensures New York's students have access to a quality education and the skills they need to succeed. The Scholarship is available to students enrolled at SUNY or CUNY school for the fall of 2017.

Here you can find information about the Scholarship and share with your colleagues, friend and family to raise awareness about the program. More than 940,000 middle-class families across New York State will be eligible for the Scholarship, and the requirements are simple.

In order to apply, students must:

- Be residents of New York State
- Plan to attend a SUNY or CUNY two- or four-year degree program
- Take 30 credits per year and make progress towards graduation
- Maintain good academic standing
- Be on track to graduate on time with an Associate's Degree in two years or a Bachelor's  Degree in four years
- The program goes into effect immediately, and is available for students whose families earn up to $100,000 annually beginning in the fall 2017. It will extend to families making up to $125,000 annually by 2019. Find more information in this fact sheet.
