Three teams competed against each other in the 2023 Golding Middle School Battle of the Books, held on April 6.
In the end, the Reading Warriors, consisting of team members Juliet Bradshaw, Bella Slater, Olivia Androw and Eleanor Gagnon, were crowned champions.
During the competition, students answered questions about the 20 books teams were tasked with reading. Teams took different approaches to the task; some teams split up the books amongst the four students and other teams decided each team member would read all 20 books.
The Golding Middle School Battle of the Books was coordinated by Laura Gagnon, Golding Middle School Librarian, and the Community Library’s Youth Services Librarian, Courtney Little, with help from Community Library Director Kim Zimmer. Kim Walchko and Sally Stroh volunteered to help judge the competition.
Molly Tefft, Vera Boniello, Brooklyn Czachor, Taylin Mann, Tiernan Kennedy, Mylan Hackney, Grant Strobeck and Sam Smith also competed.
