C-R’s elementary school students got lessons in fire safety during the week of Oct. 10, thanks to the generosity of our local firefighters.
Members of the Cobleskill Fire Department visited Ryder Elementary to teach students “stop, drop and roll” and remind them of the importance of practicing fire safety at home.
At Radez, the Richmondville Fire Department held a school-wide assembly that underscored the importance of calling 911 in the event of a fire.
Firefighters in both departments donned all their fire gear for the presentations, to show students that they need not be scared of a first-responder in a full fire-protection suit.
Both departments also brought fire trucks that students were able to explore.
