This is a reminder that applications for the Free and Reduced Meals Program are due by Wednesday, Oct. 19.

The application can be found here: Free and Reduced Meals Application. Completed applications can be sent to school with your child or dropped off at any school’s main office.

As you are likely aware, a temporary federal program that had allowed all students, regardless of income, to receive a no-cost breakfast and lunch every day has expired. Instead, the traditional Free and Reduced Meals Program (FRMP) that had been in place prior to the pandemic has resumed this school year.

The FRMP requires submission of an application. Qualifying families will be notified of their approved application, and those students will receive free or reduced-cost meals.

Please also note the following:

  • If you already received a letter indicating that your students qualify for the FRMP through a direct certification, then you do not need to complete the application. Those who already have qualified through direct certification include families who receive SNAP benefits and some Medicaid recipients.

  • If your child was enrolled in the FRMP in the past, you will need to re-apply for the program in order to retain eligibility. Students who have not been enrolled through direct certification and who have not filed an application by Oct. 19 will no longer be able to receive Free and Reduced Meal benefits.

  • If you are at all unsure if you qualify for FRMP, we strongly encourage you to complete and submit the application.

More information, including answers to common questions, can be found in this document: About Free and Reduced Lunches.
