A group of middle school students are learning the basics of operating and fixing farm equipment, from driving lawn mowers to basic welding skills, thanks to a collaboration between C-R schools and SUNY Cobleskill.

SUNY Cobleskill is hosting C-R’s “Agricultural Mechanics and Equipment” course, which was offered to middle school students as part of the Summer Enrichment Program.

Throughout the week-long course, students learned from SUNY Cobleskill’s instructors and utilized the equipment and technology available on the program’s campus.

Among the topics covered were: shop and machine safety; tool ID, lawn-mower and ag equipment operation, meet-and-greets with equipment dealer representatives – and an end-of-the-week ice cream party!

Like all Summer Enrichment Program courses, Agricultural Mechanics was offered at no cost.

C-R would like to thank SUNY Cobleskill staff members Ms. Murray, Mr. Testa, Mr. Hanford and Mr. Louch for working with our students throughout the week.
