This is the image for the news article titled Radez students visit HS for Physics Symposium Mrs. Rightmyer's fifth grade class visited Cobleskill-Richmondville High School on March 30th for a physics collaboration with Mr. Powers and his honors physics students.

The morning consisted of soda bottle racers, soda straw rockets, a penny boat challenge and an egg drop engineering challenge.

This collaboration stemmed from the work both teachers have been a part of in the New York State Master Teacher program. The NYSMTP program encourages teamwork and building connections for personal and professional growth with a focus on STEM opportunities for students.

Mrs. Rightmyer's students designed and constructed soda bottle racers, in preparation for the day. The premise behind NYSMTP is "To Learn and To Teach Others'' and to give back to your community.

With this in mind, Mrs. Rightmyer’s class will share what they learned from their experience with the other fifth grade classes at Radez  in June.

The day’s events demonstrated Cobleskill-Richmondville’s dedication to building community in their schools. This collaboration provided high school physics students with an opportunity to “give something back” to the community of schools that have proudly helped shape who they are as students, by demonstrating their academic and leadership skills running each event.

By encouraging students to challenge themselves and by creating excitement around STEM, C-R continues to encourage students to pursue courses and careers in STEM related fields.
