In preparation for the prom held Friday, May 12, C-RHS Students Against Destructive Decisions members hosted a Pre-Prom Safety Awareness Week which included several activities to raise awareness about the importance of staying safe over prom weekend and throughout upcoming spring celebrations.

The week kicked off with an assembly for juniors and seniors about the dangers of DUI. On Wednesday during lunch periods, SADD members organized a Safety Awareness Fair with several hands-on stations including playing Mario Kart while wearing DWI goggles.

The Cobleskill Rescue Squad participated in the event and taught students hands-only CPR. Justin Hamm from SCCASA also attended and provided students with sobriety tests and other challenges.

In addition, SADD members wrote messages about staying safe this weekend with sidewalk chalk on the walkways outside the building, reminding students of the importance of being safe during prom weekend.

Finally, prom going students were encouraged to sign the PROM PROMise this week which states:

By signing below, I PROMise to take responsibility for any actions taken on Prom night, including not driving distracted or under the influence of any drugs or alcohol. I also PROMise to take action if I do see someone step behind the wheel who is under the influence. I PROMise to avoid destructive decisions and behaviors and to make responsible choices for the health and well-being of myself and others. Each student that signed the PROM PROMise received a keychain lanyard, compliments of SADD, which reads "Drive sober or get pulled over."
