The Cobleskill-Richmondville Education Foundation (C-REF) has been awarded a $900 grant from the Stewart’s Shops Matching Funds Program.

Stewart’s has collected and matched donations in its shops from “Thanksgiving to Christmas since 1986.” Half of the $900 comes from donations from its customers, many of whom live in the C-R school district.

C-REF will use the $900 to purchase recess equipment for Ryder Elementary students. The need for age-appropriate game balls, foam discs, throw-and-catch games as well as 3- and 6-foot basketball hoops was evident after C-REF President Gayle Westervelt and Trustee Cathy Weidman met with two Ryder recess aides, Chris Keefer and Liz Gallup, early this year.

The C-REF Board of Trustees is delighted to assist in meeting this need for play equipment appropriate for the youngest of C-R’s students.

The Board wants to extend a heartfelt thank you to The Stewart Shops Matching Funds Program for aiding and partnering in this endeavor. Thank you to all in our communities who have donated to the Stewart’s Holiday Match Program.
