C-R Indoor Track & Field athletes recently made successful trips to the Colonial Council Championships and Sectional Championships with many top finishers, champions and school records broken.
Seniors Anneliese Klein and Thomas McConnelee were both named sectional champions and broke school records.
Anneliese was the sectional champion in the 55m hurdles and Thomas was the sectional champion in shot put and weight throw!
Junior Elizabeth Soucia also received a sectional patch for her third place finish in pole vault.
At the Colonial Council Championships, top finishers included:
- Senior, Anneliese Klein, 1st in the triple jump, and 1st in the 50m hurdles breaking the school record
- Freshman Avrie Dimick, 6th in the 300m
- Junior, Elizabeth Soucia, 2nd in pole vault
- Sophomore, Danielle Hughes, 3rd in the shot put
- Sophomore Nola Bohringe, 4th in shot put with a huge PR of 3 feet
- The 4x200 relay team: Avrie Dimick, Anneliese Klein, Sarah Schweigard, and Miya VanDerwerker, 2nd
- The 4 x 800 relay team consisting of Elizabeth Higley, Scarlet Smith, Talan Smith, and Matilda Walton, 4th
- The 4x400 relay team consisting of Avrie Dimick, Jaylen Lampron, Caylee Faulkner, and Miya VanDerwerker, 2nd
- Senior, Thomas McConnelee, 1st in the shot put with a throw of 53 feet 2 inches
- Senior, Michael Kauffmann had a huge PR in shot put, 6th
- Sophomore, Damian Roennpagel, 1st in pole vault
- Junior, Nate Kadlic, 4th in the 300m
At the Section 2 Championships, top finishers included:
- Lizzy Higley placed 6th in the 1000m
- 4x400 relay team consisting of Jalen Lampron, Miya VanDewerker, Avrie Dimick, and Caylee Faulkner placed 6th
- 4
x 800 relay team consisting of Talon Smith, Scarlet Smith, Lizzy Higley, and Matilda Walton placed 5th
- 4x200 relay team consisting of Anneleise Klein, Avrie Dimick, Sarah Schweigard, and Miya VanDewerker placed 4th
- Damien Roennpagel placed 4th in pole vault.
- Elizabeth Soucia took 3rd in pole vault
- Anneliese Klein took 3rd in the triple jump and is the sectional champion in the 55 m hurdles along with breaking the school record
- Danielle Hughes placed 6th in shot put and Nola Bohringer placed 8th out of a field of 30 throwers
- In weight throw Danielle Hughes placed 4th with a PR of 28’10”
- Thomas McConnelee was a sectional champion in shot put with a throw of 51’2 1/2”!
- Michael Kauffmann placed 7th
- In weight throw, Thomas McConnelee set a new school record of 56’ 5 1/4 and was the sectional champion
